South Korean leader to make state visit to Peru on Nov 16
Republic of Korea leader Yoon Suk-yeol will make an official state visit to Peru on Saturday, November 16, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
The protocol ceremony will be held following an invitation from Peruvian Head of State, Dina Boluarte, the Peruvian government agency noted in a statement.
This will be the Asian leader’s first state visit to Latin America, as he arrives in Lima for APEC Peru 2024.
“During the visit, both heads of state, accompanied by their work teams, will review the progress on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2012,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out in a statement.
The leaders will also adopt instruments to further boost cooperation in digital government, information and communication technologies (ICT), defense industries, tourism, knowledge exchange on critical mineral supply chains, and hydrobiological products trade.
Leader Yoon Suk-yeol will attend the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as well.
It should be noted that his state visit to Peru is part of a series of visits by other dignitaries, including His Majesty Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, who held a working meeting with leader Dina Boluarte at the Government Palace on Tuesday.
