
Perú gets prepared for the financial vice ministers and Central Banks (FCBDM) meeting for APEC 2024
Public workers from different government entities got together in Arequipa on January 31st and February 1st with different institutions of the city to define details related to the financial vice ministers and Central Banks (FCBDM) meeting organization, of the most important events of the Peruvian presidency of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation.
The Finance and Central Banks deputies meeting will take place in Arequipa from February 21st to February 24th and it will be the first of the Finance Ministers Process of APEC 2024.
The FCBDM brings together the vice ministers of finance and central banks of the 21 APEC economies and will be chaired by the vice minister of Economy of Peru, Zósimo Juan Pichihua Sern.
«The meeting will be a great opportunity to launch the work plan proposed by Peru; discuss the global and Asia-Pacific economic and financial outlook; exchange experiences on the priority themes of the year; and present some proposals to make this process more agile, efficient and beneficial for all APEC member economies,” highlighted the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The advance visit in Arequipa was led by the president of the APEC Peru 2024 Working Group, Ambassador Carlos Chávez-Taffur, and representatives of the Peruvian ministries of Foreign Affairs, Labor and Employment Promotion, Production, of Foreign Trade and Tourism, of Women and Vulnerable Populations, and the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism – PROMPERÚ.
The advance group completed a busy agenda that included a meeting with the regional vice governor of Arequipa, Ana María Gutiérrez, with whom they discussed the decoration and branding arrangement of the city for the reception of international delegations. Representatives of the National Police, the Navy, the Air Force, the Army and the National Institute of Civil Defense – INDECI were also present.
Likewise, the group met with university leaders in Arequipa to coordinate activities throughout this year within the framework of APEC Peru 2024 and the APEC Ciudadano initiative.
Ambassador Chávez-Taffur and Julio Chan, general coordinator for APEC of the Vice Ministry of Foreign Trade, participated in an interview for the Arequipa newspaper El Pueblo in which they spoke about the APEC issue and its relevance for Peru.
