Korean authorities visited Lima and met with APEC PERU 2024 organizers
Authorities from the Republic of Korea, which will be the host economy of APEC 2025, visited last Sunday, November 16, the main venues of what was the Economic Leaders’ Week 2024, such as the Lima Convention Center and the International Press Center, both located in Lima’s San Borja district. The mayor of Gyeongju, Joo Nak-young, his group of advisors, members of Korea’s Dongguk University, as well as some organizers of APEC KOREA 2025 were present.
In addition to visiting the facilities where the APEC Economic Leaders Week took place, they met with representatives of the APEC PERU 20214 Working Group to share information on the logistics of such a large event. They inquired about the number of foreign visitors, the basic features of the reunion halls, the accreditation criteria, hotels’ capacity, among others.
The mayor of Gyeongju, Joo Nak-young, was very grateful for the information provided. He stressed that it will be very useful for the organization of APEC 2025 and especially for his city that will host the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.
In 2025, different cities will independently organize the various APEC events. The city of Gyeongju, for example, will organize and carry out the APEC Economic Leaders Week. Other Korean cities will oversee events such as the APEC Senior Officials’ Meetings (SOM1, SOM2 and SOM3).
Gyeongju is a city on the southeastern coast of Korea. It is repute Peru and numerous cultural attractions, including spectacular temples and monuments, for which reason, it is called “the museum without walls” spanning over 1,324 km2, somewhat smaller than the city of Trujillo in Peru, and is home to approximately 249,845 inhabitants.
