
Media Registration Open for 2024 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week
Deadline for media registration: 4 November 2024.
From November 10 to 16, delegates of the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies will convene in Lima, Peru, for the 2024 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW). Peru President Dina Boluarte will chair the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on 16 November. Minister for Foreign Affairs of Peru Elmer Schialer and Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Úrsula León will host their foreign affairs and trade counterparts for the APEC Ministerial Meeting. The AELW will also include the 2024 APEC CEO Summit and the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Dialogue with Leaders.
Media representatives are invited to apply for accreditation to cover these high-level meetings and associated events.
Background:
APEC Economic Leaders’ Week will bring together the Leaders, Ministers and Senior Officials of the 21 APEC member economies, which account for half of global trade and 60 per cent of world GDP,to shape the future of trade and globalization policy. Under the theme “Empower. Include. Grow,” this year’s priorities focused on:
- Trade and investment for inclusive and interconnected growth,
a priority focused on strengthening open, free, and inclusive trade, which promotes economic growth that encompasses various sectors of society, promoting interconnection, inclusion, and ensuring long-term sustainability. - Innovation and digitalization to promote transition to the formal and global economy,
which seeks to promote transition towards formality of economic actors, particularly the most vulnerable. - Sustainable growth for resilient development, this involves promoting energy transitions, decarbonization of economic activities, and enhancing food security to build resilience in the face of climate change and other challenges.
Registration Procedures:
All media representatives wishing to cover meetings and events during the 2024 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week should submit a cover letter in PDF format to mediaoperations@rree.gob.pe that includes information outlined below:
- Name of the media organization
- Contact person responsible for the accreditation including their email and mobile number
- Full name of team who will cover the AELW
- Passport or ID of the team who will cover the AELW
After the submission, the media accreditation officer will review the documents. The person responsible for the accreditation will then receive a user ID and password to initiate the registration process for the media team through the registration portal.
Once the pre-registration process is completed, the verification stage will begin, which may take several days. A notification email with either confirmation or request for additional requirements will be sent to the contact person responsible for the accreditation process.
Details regarding the date, time and place for credential pick-up will be provided via email. The deadline for the media registration is Monday, 4 November, Peru time. We strongly encourage media representative to register as soon as possible to allow sufficient time for visa arrangements, as needed, and the temporary importation of equipment.
Passport/Visa and Customs Requirements:
All foreign/visiting media representatives are required to possess a valid passport with at least 6 month’s validity from time of travel as well as a journalist visa when required. Those applying for a journalist visa can do so at the Peru embassy or consulate in their place of residence.
All foreign/visiting media representatives, including those who are not required to have a visa to travel to Peru, who need to enter with professional equipment must appear at the Peru embassy or consulate in their pace of residence to complete the Form for Temporary Entrance of Professional Equipment. This is required to enter Peru without inconvenience
Media Pools
Due to significant capacity limitations, most coverage opportunities at AELW will be pooled. Approval of media accreditation will permit access to the International Media Center but does not guarantee access to specific AELW events.
International Media Center:
The International Media Center (IMC) will be located at the Ministry of Culture (in between the Lima Convention Center and the national Theater), Avenida Javier Prado Este 2645 – San Borja – Lima. The IMC will be operational 10-12 November 2024 from 7:00am to 09:00pm with 24-hour service from 12-16 November.
Note on Media Access:
All media representatives must be accredited and wear their identification badge to gain access to the IMC facilities.

Media coverage opportunities will be announced as they become available and are generally expected to be offered on a pooled basis only. Specific timing and venue details are forthcoming.

APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM):
Lima Convention Center, 16 November
Chaired by Peru President Dina Boluarte and including the Leaders of the other 20 APEC economies, the meeting will provide strategic vision and directives for collaboration in the region over the coming year. Leaders will also convene with representatives of the APEC Business Advisory Council the preceding day to discuss policy priorities and recommendations.
APEC CEO Summit:
Grand National Theater, Lima, 13-15 November
A dialogue held in conjunction with the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and organized by The Foreign Trade Society of Peru (ComexPerú). The theme for the 2024 CEO Summit is “People. Business. Prosperity” and will convene CEOs, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and stakeholders alongside senior political leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region for discussions on global opportunities and challenges that shape economic, environmental, and societal trends.
APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM):
Lima Convention Center, 14 November
Hosted by Peru’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmer Schialer and Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Desilú León and including both the Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministers from each of the other 20 APEC economies, the meeting will launch a suite of actions for building next generation trade and inclusive, sustainable growth.
APEC Concluding Senior Officials’ Meeting (CSOM):
Lima Convention Center, 11-12 November
Guided by Ambassador Carlos Vásquez, 2024 Chair of APEC Senior Officials, the meeting will finalize new technical measures to strengthen open, free, and inclusive trade, promoting interconnected growth that encompasses various sectors of society and ensuring long-term sustainability.
